Back in 1999 we established Launchfire as a digital promotions company. The promos we created often included tactics for educating folks about our clients' stuff. After all, you don't buy a BBQ without knowing how many BTUs it's packin'!
In '07 we created an advergame promo to launch Tylenol's new Rapid Release pill. Tylenol's Sales Manager played the game and thought, "we should use this to teach our reps about this new product."
After making the necessary tweaks we launched the training version of the program. The reps loved it (cuz it was fun!) but, more importantly, it proved to be a more effective way to educate. The reps learned faster and showed better recall on follow-up tests. They even reported being able to recall more information when selling the product in the field! At this point, we knew we were on to something.
Since then we've done our homework spending countless hours combing through academic papers on learning theory, attending conferences, testing tactics. We've built game-based training programs for Fortune 500 brands and government departments and we've created the world's best Personal Learning Environment. It's been a heck of a ride, and we're just getting started!
